Brandi Carlile is one of those artists that makes you truly want to listen and absorb her lyrics. Every song is a story, and that’s exactly what her... sophomore album is celebrating. The Story, written entirely by Carlile and/or her band mates “The Twins,” Phil and Tim Hanseroth, gives listeners a sense of truth and honesty in every song. With her strong voice and yodeling style, Carlile takes an introspective look at her life and the meaning of it all. Each song feels as though it written to a particular individual and you can’t help but wonder who it is and what really happened. It’s easy to feel sorry for the stories Carlile tells throughout the album, but she carries on strong with her solid heart and powerful voice. Though The Story doesn’t promise as many hits as her previous self-titled album, it gives fans the song matter they’re interested in hearing.
